my view on highway..

After a long time I went to the cinema hall to watch a Nepali flick. The much awaited and hyped Nepali flick as it was said went through the hall to public on Friday. There was much anticipation and expectation, curious feeling, and hope as it was taken in social media; after all it was selected in the Berlin festival. So it was not wrong of me to expect more of it. Is it? It’s none of our business to make a point about its success. Its success is our industry success in all. And the comparisons are the part of the Nepali society. Everybody appreciated the way the loot made a history in Nepali film industry. And it also may not worth to compare these two films as the subject matter they carry is entirely different. After all loot was a success. We should accept it. You may be wondering what I am talking about. Yes it’s about the highway. It’s a flick with a different presentation. The stories taken are time relevant and pragmatic, but everybody is talking about its ending which makes a viewer to think all by himself. The stories sometimes reel fast and sometimes get lost. Or is it deliberately intended to make visitor vague, just like our society, where it stands today in havoc and chaos, politically, socially and economically. Is it? No doubt the acting is good. It’s the story and presentation that adds beauty to the drama. So it portrays a creative thinking in filmy aroma. My perception may differ from yours and my way of thinking is not like yours. I just expected it to be a beautiful creation which I could not find. But still I hope it will bring a new trend and break the confusions regarding the orthodox practices in Nepali film industry. I hope it will also be a success. Let’s watch how the people respond in the coming days.
here is a nice review which has the link: http://www.screendaily.com/reviews/the-latest/highway/5037917.article
